Baseball Playoff Series Matchups and Picks
Colorado Rockies (+140) vs Philadelphia Phillies (-160)
Out of all the series the Rockies might have the best Value at +140. Both teams have good offenses although the Rockies not so much on the road but you also have a Phillies team that has about the most hot and cold offense in the league. The Philles can go red hot for weeks just killen the ball and then go ice cold with the bats for stretches of a couple weeks where they just cant hit for shit.
As for the Pitching matchups in this series its closer then people think. For the Phillies you have Cliff Lee (7-4 3.39) J Happ (12-4 2.94) Joe Blanton (12-8 4.05) and Cole Hammels (10-11 4.32). Cliff Lee and J Happ are the Philles top two pitchers but both have struggled down the stretch Lee going 0-2 with a 6.32 era over his last 3 starts and Happ with and ERA over 5 over his last 5 starts.
As for the Rockies I think they have an underrated yet solid starting four. Ubaldo Jimenez (15-12 3.47) Jason Marquis (15-13 4.04) Jeorge De la Rosa (16-9 4.38) and Jason Hammel (10-9 4.38)
I think both pitching staffs matchup very well and the key to this series with be the Phillies Offense, if they show up the Philles win if not they lose.
Pick Colorado Rockies +140
Minnesota Twins (+325) vs New York Yankees (-400)
The twins barely got into the playoffs after winning that extra inning tie breaking classic yesterday and now have to turn around and play the Yankees tonight. Its possible that the Twins will still be flying high and come in and maybe steal the first game in Yankee stadium but it will more likely to be a huge let down spot for the Twins as they’ll probably be drained emotionly and lose. Plus the Yankees are the Yankees 200 million buys great tallent and I think they just hammer the Twins 3 striaght.
Pick New York Yankees -400
St Louis Cardinals (-145) vs LA Dodgers (+125)
This is a strange one the Dodgers finished tops in the National league but are underdogs in the series. That may have to do with the Dodger mediocer play the last couple months of the season where they went just one game above .500 at 33-32. The Cards on the other did finish out the season on bit of a losing streak goin 7-14 but right before that did put together a 34-11 stretch.
The Dodgers have the slight advantage in the offense but the Cards have 3 top pitchers in Capenter, Wainwright, and Pinerio while the Dodgers just have 4 above average starters.
The stat that I’m basing my pick on in this series is the fact that the Cards have owned the Dodgers of late winning 36 of the last 52 meetings and 5 of 7 this season.
Pick St Louis Cariinals -145
Boston Red Sox -130 vs LA Angels +110
This pick is simlpe in my mind anyway we have the best offensive team in baseball (Angels) with home field advantage vs a team that is 3 games under .500 on the road this season and we get them as a underdog.
