With a short slate of NBA games for online betting for Tuesday and the NBA just getting back to work the best value positions are in college basketball betting.  We’ll take a look at a Big 10 game as Ohio State hosts Illinois.  Buckeyes are already set for a NCAA tournament bid, but Illinois is still in the fight.

So much of college basketball handicapping comes down to motivation–determining which teams are ‘up’ for a particular game and betting accordingly.  In this spot, we’re thinking that the road underdog Illinois is a strong position.  Ohio State is a lock for a NCAA tournament invitation, and will likely get a #2 seed.  Illinois, meanwhile, is a classic ‘bubble team’ with an 18-11 record in a good conference that needs to pick up every quality win they can to solidify their case for a postseason bid.  A win, or at the very least a competitive effort, at Ohio State would go a long way to bolster their resume.

Illini have been a great road investment this season with a 7-1 ATS mark away from home.  They’re also 7-4 ATS as an underdog.  It’s going to be almost impossible for Ohio State to get ‘up’ for a team they beat by 19 on the road in mid February.  This dynamic combined with the favorable motivational spot for Illinois puts us on a talented underdog getting a bunch of points.
