Oklahoma State v Texas Tech

Our first chance to watch football again on Sunday’s, football fans are treated to two games that should produce over 60 points combined each. The high powered Tulsa Golden Eagles battle against the C-USA consistent top team in East Carolina. And, one of the best offensive minds in college football, June Jones, leads SMU to Texas to battle against one of the best offenses in the country with new coach Tommy Tuberville in Texas Tech.

Tulsa (-6.5) @ East Carolina
My Pick: Tulsa
In an early battle between two of the C-USA’s feature teams, it’s a match-up of two teams are different spectras of the development of a program. Tulsa has Todd Graham as their head coach, one of the prime candidates for the next big job opening in the central part of the country. He’s got a returning starting quarterback and weapons on the outside for his high flying passing attack like future NFLers Trae Johnson and Damaris Johnson.

East Carolina on the other hand just hired Ruffin McNeil from Texas Tech to be their head coach after Skip Holtz built the program up. He’ll be stuck with a completely revamped defense and few playmakers on offense. Tulsa should win this game by a lot by sheer passing ability.

Projected Final Score: Tulsa 52-24 East Carolina

SMU @ Texas Tech (-10.5)
My Pick: Texas Tech
SMU is on the right track for the future with coach June Jones. The former Hawaii coach who lead them to a BCS game, Jones has already developed a respectable C-USA team and this could be the year when he finally competes again for a good bowl game.

Texas Tech is in a minor state of flux with the probably unnecessary firing of Mike Leach and the hiring of former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville. With Taylor Potts as the starter, Baron Batch at running back, Detron Lewis on the outside, and a host of other weapons on offense, this should be a high scoring affair. However, at Texas Tech with a new coach, the players will be excited, and should win big.

Projected Final Score: Texas Tech 56-38 SMU
