Jets will avenge Monday Night loss to Dolphins, stuff Wild Cat

In a week when World Series odds are taking precedence, this NFL matchup will probably fly under the radar. Still, Jets-Dolphins is a very important game between two AFC East rivals and will have a major impact on the playoff race moving forward.
Miami at New York Jets
Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 p.m. ET
NFL betting: Jets -3
Miami is licking its wounds after a crushing defeat to the Saints. The Dolphins built up a big lead thanks to their powerful running game, racking up 137 and four touchdowns on the ground. Chad Henne fell back to Earth, though, and it hurt the team. Henne was 18/36 for 211 yards and two interceptions. The Dolphins must win the Jets game to stay in the playoff race, but they can’t do that unless Henne brings his best effort.
That could be tough against the Jets defense, which is playing very well right now. New York chased JaMarcus Russell from the game—not that it’s much of an accomplishment—and held the Raiders quarterbacks to 144 yards and two interceptions. Calvin Pace was an absolute beast, racking up six tackles and three sacks.
The Dolphins defense played a fantastic half last week, then completely combusted. The high-scoring Saints were held to just 10 points in the first half but ripped off 36 in the second (though one touchdown came off an interception return). It wasted a five-sack, four-takeaway effort by the “D.” Miami was pounded on the ground for 138 yards, three touchdowns and a 5.1 yard average.
A good sports betting system says that spells trouble against the Jets, who rushed for 316 yards and four touchdowns against Oakland. Leon Washington was lost of the season, but rookie Shonn Green performed brilliantly in his stead, rushing for 144 yards and two scores. The strong rushing effort took pressure off rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez (9/15, 143 yards, touchdown), who tossed five interceptions the week before.
Miami’s run defense simply can’t slow down the Jets, especially with Greene finding his groove. This is a big revenge game, as New York was extremely bitter about a Week 5 loss to the Dolphins, when the Wild Cat ran roughshod over them. Head coach Rex Ryan will put in a plan to slow down the Wild Cat this week and get his team a key win. Bet on the Jets with your NFL predictions.
