While most US sports betting enthusiasts will be focused on a full slate of NFL games there’s a pair of CFL games on the board worthy of consideration.  We’ll take a look at a contest between one of the league’s best teams, the Montreal Alouettes and one of the worst, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Alouettes have been somewhat erratic at times this season, but with quarterback Anthony Calvillo back under center the team appears to be rounding back into form as the CFL regular season schedule winds down.  Montreal looked very sharp in their last game as they dominated a solid Calgary Stampeders team 46-19.  Calvillo is not only a potent offensive weapon he’s ridiculously consistent and plays mistake free football.  This season he’s thrown 27 TD passes against only 5 interceptions.   He’s also got plenty to weapons with which to work including longtime target Ben Cahoon (Cahoon became the CFL’s all time leading receiver in the win over Calgary) and running back Avon Cobourne.

Winnipeg is only 4-10 SU but has been a decent pointspread investment, posting an 8-6 record against the spread including a 7-4 ATS mark as an underdog.  This is a bad matchup for them, however, and the Blue Bombers have struggled bigtime at McGill Stadium in recent years losing 5 of the last 6 meetings both SU and ATS.  In the five losses, Montreal has won by an average of 21.4 PPG.  Winnipeg usually puts up a decent effort but they simply don’t have the talent to hang with the mighty Als on their home field.  They did play Montreal tough in a September meeting at Winnipeg before losing 44-40 but lost by 22 in the team’s previous meeting here.  Given the Bombers struggles on the road this year (0-7 SU) combined with Montreal’s form and Calvillo’s consistancy we look for their struggles at McGill Stadium to continue.

Bet Montreal Alouettes -11 over Winnipeg Blue Bombers
