Inter conference NBA action on Monday as the Detroit Pistons head to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz at the Energy Solutions Arena.  The Pistons are in fourth place in the Central with a record of 11-25, while the Jazz have been at or near the top of the Northwest Division for most of the season and check in with a record of 23-11.

The Pistons W/L record doesn’t look like much and they’re just 3-14 SU on the road but they have been a very good pointspread investment this season.  Detroit is 19-14 ATS overall and 16-11 as an underdog.  They’ve also played good teams tough on most nights–they’re just 4-12 SU against opponents with winning records but 10-6 ATS.  Despite that ATS success, this is a very bad pointspread role for them–as a road underdog of +6′ to +9′ points they’re 0-6 SU/2-4 ATS this season.  They’re also 4-11 SU/7-8 ATS against Western Conference opponents.

Utah is a breakeven pointspread team in most situations, but they’ve taken care of business in non-conference games this season.  Jazz are 11-1 SU/ATS against the Eastern Conference this year including a perfect 4-0 SU/ATS against the Central Division.  They’re also 14-1 SU/10-5 ATS against teams with losing records.  Pistons did cover in a loss at Salt Lake City last season, but they’re facing a much stronger Jazz team this year.  Utah is on a 14-5 ATS run as favorites of 9 or more points.  Pistons have been idle since New Years’ Eve and the high altitude of Salt Lake City isn’t exactly the ideal place to get back into the competitive form.

Bet Utah Jazz -9 over Detroit Pistons
