Bad news for the rest of the NFL. Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has finally recovered from the bad hamstring that has plagued him the early part of the season. The 5-1 Jets haven’t exactly been terrible without him, but a pass defense that has given up 10 touchdowns and ranks 22nd overall could certainly use a boost. Especially with the potent Packers offense coming to town on Sunday.

Head coach Rex Ryan sounded pleased as punch about having his top defender back in the fold to face Green Bay:

“We can be flexible now,” Ryan said. “We can do whatever we want. We can play right and left. We can match Darrelle on the top guy. We can match (Antonio) Cromartie on the top guy. We’ll let them try to figure it out.”

Should make for an interesting chess match between Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and the Pack’s Mike McCarthy. With the Jets being stout against the run and Green Bay’s inability to muster much of a rush attack without Ryan Grant, Revis and the rest of the secondary should see plenty of Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones and Jordy Nelson.

Revis has been known to talk smack in the past, but he had nothing but positive things to say about his upcoming opponent:

“Their passing game is amazing. Aaron Rodgers, I think, is one of the best quarterbacks in the league,” Revis said.

I like cocky, bold Darrelle better than nice, complimentary Darrelle. The least he could’ve done is call Jennings soft or Driver old. That would make this key inter-conference tussle a lot more interesting. Oh well. Maybe big Rex will drop one of his famous verbal bombs sometime during the next couple days to spice things up. Fingers crossed.
