Now that Randy Moss has been shipped back to Minnesota, it’s time to jump aboard the speculation train. Will the Vikings extend Moss beyond this season? Does this move mean old man Favre will once again put his impending retirement on hold? If Favre does call it quits, might that preclude Moss from sticking around in the land of 10,000 lakes? Let’s discuss, shall we.

For the sake of this argument, let’s assume Brett walks away for good after 2010. Minnesota would be desperate for a quarterback. Well, there happens to be a guy known for having a big arm currently residing in the nation’s capital by the name of Donovan McNabb, who is scheduled to be a free agent in 2011 should the ‘Skins not offer him an extension.

McNabb used to have Vikings head coach Brad Childress as his offensive coordinator, so he’s familiar with the system. The prospect of throwing to Moss would be enticing for Donny Mac (provided the Vikes resign Moss). The last time he had a Hall of Fame caliber wide receiver was 2004, when he tossed a career high 31 touchdowns and led the Eagles to the Super Bowl.

Now, the Redskins would be foolish not to keep McNabb. However, there is one more possible scenario to consider. What if the ‘Skins, who are incredibly thin at wideout, lured Randy to D.C.? It would be a excellent bargaining chip in the McNabb negotiations, and it would also ensure Moss gets to finish his career playing with a legit quarterback.

Either way, it’s possible Donovan and Randy could be playing together in 2011. That is if there is NFL football in 2011. There’s still this issue of a pesky Collective Bargaining Agreement that needs to be resolved.
