Baseball Betting Free Picks: NY Mets @ Colorado
Added on Apr 13, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
With a short card of NBA action and the NHL off until later this week, there will be plenty of interest in baseball betting at online sports betting sites worldwide. We’ll take a position in a National League game between the New York Mets and Colorado Rockies. The Mets will almost certainly have a better season than they did in 2009 when they caught every bad break imaginable. The Rockies could be one of the best teams in the West and they’re always tough at Coors Field.

The names change but the song remains the same for the Colorado Rockies. After a surprising run to the 2007 World Series they put together another strong year in 2009 finishing second to the LA Dodgers in the NL West with a 92-70 record that was good enough for a wild card berth. They could be even better this year but as has been the case for as long as anyone can remember the Rockies starting rotation is always a question mark. What’s not a question mark is their ability to hit the ball and score runs, and there’s really not a weak spot in the Colorado batting order.
Colorado turned a nice profit for bettors at home last year (+8.7 units) while the Mets have struggled on the road in recent years. Over the last three seasons, New York has dropped -17 units away from home, and last season they were particularly abysmal in away games at night going 14-39 and losing 23.5 units. This season they’re already 0-2 against LHP hitting .224 and averaging 2 runs a game against southpaws. John Maine didn’t look particularly sharp in his first start of the year, allowing 4 ER and 2 home runs to Florida. His line could be even worse after this game pitching to a potent Colorado lineup in the thin Denver air.
Bet Colorado (Smith) -145 over NY Mets (Maine)
