Big Ben Not Happy About Arians Exit

When Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians was essentially forced to retire last week, it left many players scratching their heads. At the top of the list of those bothered by the decision is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who would like an explanation about the abrupt departure from team management. Arians was partly responsible for the development of Big Ben into one of the league’s top signal-callers.

Colts’ Owner Jim Irsay Blasts Manning For Comments

The rift between Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts appears to be growing. At a press conference to introduce the Colts’ new head coach Chuck Pagano team owner Jim Irsay blasted Manning for going public with his comments about the state of the team in the wake of its post season house cleaning. Irsay called Manning a ‘politician’ and said that the good of the team should come first: “I don’t think it’s in the best interest to paint the

Super Bowl Secondary Ticket Market Shows Strong Demand

The Super Bowl is always a ‘tough ticket’ with limited availability and high costs on the secondary market. This year that is particularly true as two popular teams from high population Northeastern markets collide in the NFL’s championship game. Currently, the baseline for Super Bowl tickets on the secondary market is a hefty $2,800 but demand is still high. According to a spokesperson for the StubHub ticket sales website the Super Bowl drove over 1.5 million searches on Sunday alone.

Greg Schiano To Coach Bucs

So much for Tampa Bay wanting to land a veteran NFL coach. According to various sources, Greg Schiano has been hired as their next head coach. Schiano, who coached Rutgers from 2001-2011, received a second interview yesterday, and it must have went well because the two sides started hammering out a five-year contract. Schiano becomes Tampa Bay’s ninth head coach, following Raheem Morris who was fired three weeks ago.

Joe Namath Laments State Of Relationship With Jets

Joe Namath has kept a relatively low profile of late–particularly since an apparently inebriated ‘Broadway Joe’ asked comely ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber for a kiss on live TV during an NFL game. One thing he’s not pulled any punches about, however, is his former team the New York Jets. Namath has been vocal in his criticism of the Jets and that’s resulted in a deterioration of the relationship between himself and the team he famously led to the only

Gronkowski Still Nursing Ankle Injury

Patriots Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski will miss the team’s first practice leading up to Super Bowl XLVI due to the sprained left ankle he suffered against Baltimore in the AFC Championship. With eleven days remaining until kickoff, Gronkowski is hopeful his ailing ankle will be healed in time for him to play. The decision to keep him off the practice field is being viewed as precautionary to prevent any setbacks.

Colts Hire Chuck Pagano As Head Coach

The Indianapolis Colts wasted no time finding a replacement for recently fired head coach Jim Caldwell–on Wednesday the team hired Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano. Pagano becomes a NFL head coach for the first time and will be introduced at a news conference on Thursday. The 51 year Pagano is a well traveled and experienced assistant serving time in Miami and North Carolina in college football and Cleveland and Oakland in the NFL. Pagano gave thanks to the Baltimore

Madonna Prepares For Super Bowl Halftime Show

It’s no secret that in the past decade the Super Bowl has become more than a mere football game. It’s now a multimedia spectacular and major event in a number of industries that have nothing to do with sports. One of the biggest ‘subplots’ of the day is the halftime performance–this year featuring Madonna. Madonna is hard at work preparing a suitably over the top spectacle. ‘Madge’ says she’s ‘nervous but excited’ at performing on such a big stage: “I

Roger Goodell Gets Contract Extension

NFL owners have agreed to extend the contract of Commissioner Roger Goodell through March of 2019. Finalizing the new deal was a formality after a unanimous December vote paved the way to begin the negotiation process. This marks the second such extension for Goodell, who received his first in 2009, three years after inking his original 5-year deal in 2006.

Bucs Eying Mike Sherman

A second interview is usually a positive sign for prospective job seekers. Especially in the profession of NFL coaching. Dennis Allen and Joe Philbin both received second interviews and both are now head coaches for the Raiders and Dolphins, respectively. This is good news for Mike Sherman, who is scheduled to be grilled by Bucs’ brass for a second time today.

Florida Marlins vs. Seattle Mariners

Florida is in free fall and entered the week having lost 11 straight and 22 of 25. Seattle may not get the media coverage of some teams but they’ve quietly become one of the most improved teams in baseball. The Marlins are simply a ‘go against’ at this stage of the game but we may be able to get a decent price on a Mariners team that is still under the radar. Bet Seattle over Florida

Atlanta Braves vs. San Diego Padres

Padres have shown some incremental progress after a brutal start to the season due in large part to their pitching staff.  This game will feature a pair of top ten team ERA’s against each other and both teams’ hurlers could be in for a big day with the Padres and Braves in the bottom five of MLB offenses.  Braves will likely be a road favorite but a better play is to take this game Under the total.  Bet Atlanta/San Diego Under
