MLB Baseball Free Picks: LA Angels @ NY Yankees
Added on Apr 15, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
With the NBA off until the playoffs begin this weekend, sportsbooks will have a greater focus on baseball betting today and we’ll follow suit. We’ll take a look at an American League game between the New York Yankees at LA Angels at Yankee Stadium.
Los Angeles Angels (Scott Kazmir) at New York Yankees (Phil Hughes)
April 15, 4:05 PM Pacific
Talented southpaw Scott Kazmir makes his first start of the year for the Angels, who have gotten off to a slow start in 2010. Make no mistake, however, this is one of the best teams in baseball–they finished with the second best record in the majors last year and may even be better this year. That makes them an obvious value in this matchup against a ‘public’ team that always gets inflated prices and particularly at home. Anaheim has been a great sports betting moneymaker on the road for the past two seasons (+18 units in both 2009 and 2008) and we expect them to quickly round back into top form. Kazmir has always pitched well against the Bronx Bombers despite a 6-6 record–he’s got an ERA of 2.94 in 13 starts. Hughes is making only his second start against the Angels, with one loss and an ERA of 7+. Anaheim and New York have split the first two games of this series, and this game is definitely much more evenly matched than the line suggests–especially considering that the Angels’ Kazmir is the better pitcher.
Bet Los Angeles Angels (Kazmir) +165 over New York Yankees (Hughes)
