There’s a lot to like about Cincinnati in this spot. To begin with, this is a very strong situational matchup for them based on last year’s performance data. The Reds turned a nice profit on the road against righthanders (+10 units) while the Marlins lost money at home against RHP, including a -6.35 unit showing against righties at night. Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey faced Florida late last season and pitched well but didn’t factor in the decision. He left after 7 innings of 3 hit, 0 ER pitching with 8 k’s and 2 walks. Chris Volstad has faced Cincinnati once and didn’t fare quite as well, getting the loss after allowing 7 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings of work.
The Reds have controlled the head to head series in recent years, winning 11 of the last 16 meetings including a 5-3 record in Miami. A win here would give them a sweep of the series after two victories so far this year. Cincinnati has a lot of young talent that may finally develop this year, and we’ll take them at an underdog price to continue their mastery over the Marlins.
Bet Cincinnati (Bailey) +115 over Florida (Volstad)
