MLB Betting Free Picks: Florida @ Colorado
Added on Apr 25, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Baseball betting is in full swing at sportsbooks worldwide, and we’ll take a look today at a National League game between the Florida Marlins and Colorado Rockies. The series was set to begin on Friday night, but was rained out. The rained out game will be made up today as the first half of a double header beginning at 2:05 Pacific. The game we’re featuring will be the nightcap, so make sure you get the right pitching matchup:
Florida Marlins (Nate Robertson) at Colorado Rockies (Aaron Cook)
April 24, 5:10 PM Pacific (approx.)
Simple case of a sports betting matchup being a lot more competitive than the price on the game would suggest. Colorado is historically tough at home, and we’re generally upbeat on their prospects this season. The hitting is as strong as ever, the pitching has shown improvement and we expect them to be in the postseason mix. Florida has a better record to date, however, and is also a club on the rise. The Marlins won the head to head series last year (4-2 +200) and made their financial backers a nice profit on the road (+16.05 units) in 2009. They’re slightly in the black on the road this year as well (+1.1 units) and we expect them to be a solid play away from home against this year.
Aaron Cook is certainly a competent pitcher, but so far this season he’s struggled–he’s got a 7.54 ERA and is averaging less than 5 innings per start. Nate Robertson, on the other hand, has been sensational with a 2-0 record and a 2.20 ERA. He’s been even better in two road starts, where his ERA is a miniscule 0.79. And its not like he earned that number against a couple of bottom feeders–in his last outing he pitched a 4 hit shutout against the Phillies at Philadelphia! With cool temps and relatively high humidity forecast for the Denver area tonight it’ll benefit the ptichers, and that should also benefit the Marlins.
Bet Florida (Robertson) +140 over Colorado (Cook)
