MLB Betting Free Picks: St. Louis @ Philadelphia
Added on May 04, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Sportsbooks offering an attractive slate of sports betting opportunities for Tuesday and we’ll head to the National League where the East leading Phillies are hosting the Central leading Cardinals. Cards one the first game of the series, and game 2 looks to be a good opportunity to play them in a positive expectation situation.
St. Louis Cardinals (Adam Wainwright) at Philadelphia Phillies (Cole Hamels)

Phillies have cooled off somewhat since their torrid start to the season, and have lost 5 of their last 8 games. They’ll have their hands full once again tonight as the St. Louis Cardinals have been nearly unstoppable lately winning 8 of their last 9 and are playing well in virtually all phases of the game. At 18-8 St. Louis now has the best record in the National League and the second best in the Majors. The Cards lost 4 of 5 to Philadelphia last year, but St. Louis is catching the Phillies at a good spot in the schedule to exact a measure of revenge.
It’s important to keep in mind that Philadelphia was by no means a dominant home team last year with a 45-36 record. In particular, they lost a ton of money against right handed pitchers at home in 2009 (-14.5 units), and they’re facing a very good one tonight in Adam Wainwright. St. Louis has won 4 of Wainwright’s 5 starts this year, and he checks in with a solid 2.13 ERA. Cole Hamels is historically a solid pitcher, though he’s struggled somewhat this season with a 5.28 ERA. Since the Phillies don’t have a dominant track record at home, we’ll gladly take the team playing the best baseball at the moment with the stronger pitcher as a small favorite.
Bet St. Louis (Wainwright) -125 over Philadelphia (Hamels)
