UFC 126 Update:

UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort is starting to take shape. The Featherweights will take to the cage as Chad Mendez will face Japanese fighter Michihiro Omigawa. We heard the match up would take place, but we were unsure of the date. We also know a handful of other fights as well. The Mendez/Omigawa fight will happen on the undercard with Gabe Ruediger vs. Paul Taylor, Demetrious Johnson vs. Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and Mike Pierce vs. Kenny Robertson. Besides the main event, the only other fight known now is Jake Ellenberger and Carlos Eduardo Rocha.

UFC 126 marks another title defense for future hall of famer, and current middleweight champion, Anderson Silva will face number 1 contender Vitor Belfort. UFC 126 takes place Feb. 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Chris Leben Talks About Arrest

In other UFC News, Chris Leben is doing press for his UFC 125 co main event fight against Brian Stann. Last we heard from Leben, he was arrested for DUI. I for one thought the fight would be affected, but it turns out they pushed back the hearing for the charges. The point is, Leben is finally talking about the incident. He even compared himself to George W Bush who also had a dui, but here is what he said happened:

“I’d bought a new truck, and I had never drove a truck before. It had just rained. Apparently I stepped on the gas a little too hard so I kind of slid out and hit the embankment of the highway, and the cops were working right there, so they saw me. Somebody told me, you know, you’re not supposed to blow into a Breathalyzer if you get pulled over. I don’t know, I guess my lawyer says that’s not necessarily the case now, but I didn’t blow. I didn’t take the test, just because I know that in Hawaii the legal blood-alcohol limit is .05 but if there’s an accident, it’s not even .08, so it’s super-duper low. I definitely wasn’t hammered, but I was definitely in the wrong. I didn’t blow so, you know, who knows what’s going to happen now.”

I imagine he will face some consequences, as this is his second DUI. He actually did some time in Oregon for a past DUI.

Roger Gracie Vs. Trevor Prangley

Looks like Roger Gracie will be stepping into the cage with seasoned veteran Trevor Prangley at Strikeforce’s upcoming show on January 29 in San Jose. Roger Gracie is 3-0 in his MMA career, and seems poised to potentially emerge as the representative of his family’s tradition Mixed Martial Arts has been looking for since their wide-ranging success over the formative years of the sport. He has a laundry list of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu awards and accomplishments, but they will be put to the test against a fighter like Trevor Prangley.

The event will also feature a title-fight between middleweight champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and devastating striker Rob Lawler, as well as Herschel Walker in action and rumored appearances by Jason Miller, Tim Kennedy, and Nick Diaz.
