I started to hear rumors about Nick Diaz making another appearance in the octagon about two weeks ago, but now those rumors are officially dead. Nick Diaz has now signed another multi-fight deal with Strikeforce. The welterweight champion, or Strikeforce, wouldn’t comment on the details of the deal, but I am sure Strikeforce is happy to have their champion back under the umbrella.

Diaz is set to defend his title for the second time against Brazilian striker Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, on January 29, and momentum is in his favor. In fact Diaz has one his last 8 fights, and hasn’t lost since November of 2007. That loss was against KJ Noons, a loss Diaz avenged the last time he fought in the Strikeforce cage, and he now feels Strikeforce is doing more and more to accommodate him as a champion. His more notable recent wins include Dream champion Marius Zaromskis, Japanese veteran Hayato “Mach” Sakurai and MMA pioneer Frank Shamrock.

Diaz says he is looking forward to help grow Strikeforce as a promotion, and feels he is in a good place. He said “I’m looking forward to continuing my career with Strikeforce. When I first got here, there weren’t a lot of great 170-pound fighters for me to fight, but that’s definitely changed. There’s a lot of really good fighters in the division now, and I’m ready to fight anyone who thinks they can beat me.”

Of course most people still want to see Diaz fight Jason “mayhem” Miller, as the two have been verbally going at it for more then a year now. The infamous Strikeforce brawl only added fuel to the fire, in addition to several videos and postings back and forth from the two, but the two have not been able to come up with a weight they are both comfortable at. Diaz says Mayhem doesn’t deserve a fight with the champion, and Mayhem says Diaz is ducking him because he has fought at the discussed weights before.

Strikeforce: Diaz Vs. Cybork will take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on January 29, 2011. and the even will air live on Showtime. The co-main event is another title fight between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Robbie Lawler. The two will meet in the cage, and winner will be leaving with the middleweight strap around their waste.

Here is the entire Main Card.

Nick Diaz (champion) vs. Evangelista Santos

Middleweight Championship bout:

Ronaldo Souza (champion) vs. Robbie Lawler

Heavyweight bout:

Herschel Walker vs. Scott Carson

Light Heavyweight bout:
