Light Heavyweight Championship bout:

Maurício Rua © +170 vs. Jon Jones -210

Jones came out aggressive from the opening bell, and was stalking Shogun the entire time. Jones opened up with flying knee, and then a spinning back kick. The key to this fight was the size of Jones compared to Shogun. Jones simply smothered the champ from the open seconds, and never relented. With 90 seconds left in the first round, Shogun looked absolutely spent after he ate a barrage of knees while getting to his feet. Shogun showed little offense, and the more time went on the more comfortable Jones got in the cage. When Jones grabbed a kick of Shogun’s, and took him to the ground, Jones simply mauled him with elbows. The right side of Rua’s face looks battered and swollen as the last minute of the second frame ticks down. In the third round, Bones finally started to light up Shogun, and cornered him against the fence. Shogun was stumbling back into the cage, and Bones landed a solid knee and a left hand tot he body. One more knee was all it took, and Herb Dean rescued him.

Jones defeated Rua by TKO (strikes) at 2:37 of round 3 to become the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion
Bantamweight bout:

Urijah Faber -550 vs. Eddie Wineland +450

Wineland came out and put a lot of pressure on Faber, and Faber was handling it well. Faber was shooting for takedowns, but couldn’t complete the task. Faber eventually got Wineland down, but he popped right back up. By the end of the round, Faber had finally timed out Wineland’s hands, and was landing single right hands and feinting take downs. When Faber finally figured out how to get Wineland to the floor, Faber would move to half guard and posture up to start landing shots. Wineland worked for submissions, but Faber powered through all the attempts. Wineland was just as game in the third round, but it looked much like the second round. When Faber was able to get Wineland down he was able to work him from the top.

Faber defeated Wineland by unanimous decision (29–28, 29–28, 29–28)
Lightweight bout:

Jim Miller -275 vs. Kamal Shalorus +240

Jim Miller ran this fight from bell to bell. Kamal Shalorus came forward and took some tremendous shots from Miller, but never went out. Miller was able to push around Shalorus, but Kamal still came forward the whole time. Miller was trying to finish the fight for all 15 minutes, and in the end was awarded the easy Unanimous Decision.

Miller defeated Shalorus via TKO (punches) at 2:15 of round 3
Middleweight bout:

Nate Marquardt -300 vs. Dan Miller +240

It was painfully obvious that Dan Miller was taking a big step up in competition on short notice. Miller was always on the attack, and was always looking for sub attempts, but Nate was clearly the stronger fighter in the fight. Dan showed a lot of heart, but things really fell apart for him when he couldn’t get the fight to the floor. Nate was picking him apart on the feet, and would just take him down and rough him up there. At the end of the third round, Miller was still throwing up his legs for sub attempts, but when the bell rang it was a clear win for Nate Marquardt.

Marquardt defeated Miller via unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, 30–27)

Heavyweight bout:

Mirko Filipović +300 vs. Brendan Schaub -280

Crocop came to fight, but you could tell right away that Schaub was bigger, stronger, and faster then him. Schaub fought a near perfect fight. When he had Crocop up against the fence, he smothered him with inside shots, and knees to the thighs. When Schaub was standing he was always circling away from the powerful left leg of Crocop, and jumping in an out with his punches. Crocop hung in there, until a blistering right hand connected with him right behind the ear. Crocop immediately began to wobble, and fell over with his eyes rolled back. Schaub dove in and landed another shot, but the ref rescued him before anything else could land.

Schaub defeated Filipović via TKO (punch) at 3:44 of round 3
