Sportsbooks will be offering several good NHL betting opportunities on Wednesday night and we’ll focus on an Eastern Conference matchup as the Boston Bruins host the Buffalo Sabres at the TD BankNorth Garden.  Bruins can take a commanding 3-1 series lead with a victory tonight, with the series shifting back to Buffalo for game 5:

By now it should be apparent that the Bruins match up very well with the Sabres for sports betting.  Everyone knew that Boston had a solid defense and top notch goaltending, but the concern was an offensive attack that ranked dead last in the NHL.  They’ve done a good job in this series being more aggressive on the offense end and putting shots on Ryan Miller, and that has a lot to do with their current 2-1 series lead.  Buffalo is starting to look like a team that peaked at the wrong time of the year, while Boston is starting to play up to their potential.  Sabres have won only 3 of their last 9 games dating back to the regular season, while Boston has won 8 of 12.  In theory, late season games are of little relevance in the postseason but in hockey its not easy to regain lost momentum.

The perceived scoring edge for Buffalo has been further neutralized as they’ll play this game without top scorer Thomas Vanek who was injured in Game 2 of the series.  Boston has dominated head to head play in their own rink of late winning 7 of the last 11 meetings.  We’ll look for them to continue that trend tonight with a Game 4 victory.
