NHL Betting Picks: Nashville @ Edmonton
Added on Jan 12, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
More Western Conference NHL hockey betting action on tap for tonight as the Nashville Predators look to continue a successful road trip as they head to Edmonton, Alberta to take on the lowly Oilers. The Predators got their West Coast swing off to a good start on Monday night with a hard fought 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks, and they look to go to 2-0 on the trip against the last place Oilers.

The Predators are currently tied for 5th place in the Western Conference with the Phoenix Coyotes. That’s not as secure as it sounds, as they’re just 1 point ahead of 7th place Vancouver and 4 points ahead of 8th place Los Angeles. They’ll have an excellent opportunity to pick up two points here as Edmonton is mired in last place in the Western Conference and has the 2nd worst overall record in the entire NHL.
The Predators are middle of the pack in both goals scored and goals allowed which is reflected in their totals tally for the season with 21 Under and 20 Over. While the Oilers aren’t bad offensively (16th in the league) they’re fourth worst in the NHL in goals allowed per game. They’re also in the bottom 10 in shots on goal allowed, meaning that Nashville should get the puck on net a lot in this game.
Edmonton has 14 Overs and 1 push in 23 and this contest should give Nashville an opportunity to open up their offense. 7 of the last 10 head to head and 3 of 5 at Edmonton have gone ‘Over’ the total. Both meetings this season have gone Over with 7 and 9 goals scored for an average of 8 per game. We’ll look for this one to exceed the total as well.
