Back to the NFL and we’ll take a look at a totals play on the Oakland Raiders/Denver Broncos game:
Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos
Sunday, December 20th 1:05 PM Pacific
It’s no secret that the ‘recreational’ bettors, or ‘squares’ as they’re called by insiders, like to bet favorites and the ‘over’. This game features a low number (37), but every indication that it’ll go ‘under’ the total. Both teams have serviceable defenses and impotent offenses. Oakland is averaging 11.9 PPG this season, while Denver is averaging 19.2 PPG overall and 17.2 at home. The Broncos are also giving up only 17.7 PPG overall and 16.5 at home. The Raiders have scored less than 13 points in 9 of their last 13 games.
Oakland has gone ‘under’ in 4 of 6 on the road and 4 of 5 against division opponents. Denver has gone ‘under’ in 9 of 13 overall this season, 7 of 10 against conference opponents and in all six of their home games this year.
Further adding to Oakland’s offensive woes could be the lack of playing time that this week’s starter, Charlie Frye, has had this season. Frye is making his first start of the year with the ineffective JaMarcus Russell relegated to backup status and #2 QB Bruce Gradkowski injured.
The recent history of the head to head matchups at Denver also favor the ‘under’ with 9 of 17 failing to exceed the total. Look for an ugly, low scoring Broncos victory as this game goes ‘under’ the total.
Bet Denver Broncos/Oakland Raiders Under 37
