NBA Betting Free Picks: Atlanta @ Milwaukee
Added on Apr 12, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Online Sportsbooks are offering a short card of NBA betting options for Monday, though many games are off the board due to injuries or teams simply resting key players as the season winds down. We’ll take a look at an Eastern Conference matchup that has a bearing on the playoff seedings as the Atlanta Hawks travel to Milwaukee to play the Bucks. Milwaukee is tied with Miami for the #5 seed, while Atlanta is in third place.

Much of the handicapping process in both the NBA and NHL at this time of the year is determining the motivational levels of the teams involved. Simply put, Milwaukee needs this win more than Atlanta does. The Hawks are even in something of a lookahead situation not only to the playoffs looming on the horizon, but to a home game against Cleveland on Wednesday. That game is essentially meaningless for the Cavs, but the Hawks would like to get a victory over the NBA’s top team heading into the playoffs as Cleveland has swept the series so far this year. Milwaukee is off a loss to Boston and must face the Celtics again on the road in their next game.
Many people expected the Bucks to go in the tank when they lost Andrew Bogut to a season ending arm injury, but they’ve held up remarkably well with a 7-1-1 ATS record in their last 8 games. They’ve been strong on their home court all year, and have played Atlanta tough particularly at home where they’ve won 4 of the last 5 meetings. For the year, they’re 24-15 ATS at home and 25-14 ATS as a favorite. Their 50-27 ATS mark overall is one of the best in the league. Atlanta isn’t a team to just not ‘show up’, but we’ll lay the small price with a more motivated home side.
