NBA Betting Free Picks: San Antonio @ Phoenix

Only one NBA betting opportunity on the board at sportsbooks for Wednesday, but we’ll take a position in the second game between the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs. Suns won and covered the first game of the series. After Wednesday’s Game 2 the series shifts to San Antonio for the next two contests.
San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns

Both teams have issues. Phoenix often ‘plays down’ to the level of their opposition and sometimes doesn’t bring the intensity to the game that they should. San Antonio is overly reliant on banged up veterans. That notwithstanding, we’re going to back the hometown Suns at the small price. This is a bad matchup for San Antonio, as they have no hope of running with the uptempo Suns. Their only hope is to slow the game down, and they haven’t been particularly successful doing that in Phoenix. Suns won and covered all three meeting at home this year (2 regular season, 1 playoff) and we really don’t hold out much hope that San Antonio will be able to get back in the series until they get home. Now that would be worth something to bet on sports.
The Suns have been in very good form down the stretch in the regular season into the playoffs. They’ve won 14 of 18 SU and covered 13 of 18. Suns took care of business this season at home (27-16 ATS), as a favorite (36-23 ATS) and against the Southwest Division (15-4 ATS). The Suns are always susceptible to ‘head case’ type issues, but everything else about this matchup suggests a play on the home team.
