NBA Free Picks: Charlotte @ New York
Added on Jan 07, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Not much to work with on Thursday’s NBA betting card with only one game on the board. Still, there appears to be a decent position in the lone pro hoops contest as the New York Knicks welcome the Charlotte Bobcats to Madison Square Garden:
Charlotte Bobcats at New York Knicks
January 7, 4:35 Pacific
Though its gone largely unnoticed by the mainstream sports media, the New York Knicks have actually been playing decent basketball of late. They’ve won 10 of their last 15 games and are threatening to climb into playoff eligibility in the admittedly weak Eastern Conference. They’re currently just a game behind Milwaukee for the 8th playoff spot, and one of the teams that’s ahead of them comes to town on Thursday.
The Charlotte Bobcats have been a great pointspread team this year both overall (21-12 ATS) and on the road (11-6 ATS). From a straight up standpoint, however, they’ve shown the dichotomy that a lot of young teams do–they win at home (12-4 SU) and lose on the road (3-14 SU) . The schedule greatly favors the Knicks, as Charlotte will be playing their fourth game in five nights tonight, while the Knicks have seen action once in that span and have been off since Sunday. New York has already beaten Charlotte 98-94 in late December, and in a more favorable scheduling spot we look for them to repeat that performance here.
