NBA Betting Free Picks: Denver @ Phoenix

Sportsbooks are offering a short slate of NBA betting opportunities for Tuesday, but we’ll take a look at a Western Conference battle between the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns. The Los Angeles Lakers have already clinched the conference crown, but the rest of the playoff seedings are a free for all. Currently on 1 1/2 games separate second place Dallas and 5th place Phoenix, with Denver sitting in third 1 game back on the Mavericks:

The Nuggets have picked up their play of late, and they should be even better now that Kenyon Martin has returned from injury. Denver has won 5 of 6 SU (3-3 ATS in that stretch) and easily beat Memphis at home on Monday night covering as an 11 point favorite. Unfortunately, they’ll face one of the hottest teams in the NBA here. Phoenix has won 13 of their L16 covering 9 and have covered 21 of their last 30. Denver is the only playoff bound team in the West with a losing record on the road, and Phoenix is a very strong home team.
More significantly, this is just a bad matchup for the Nuggets. They don’t do well when betting on sports at the uptempo pace the Suns like to play, and their record at the US Airways Center clearly reflects this. Phoenix has won 7 straight over the Nuggets at home, covering six with a 13 point average margin of victory. Denver has been a good play as an underdog this season (10-5 ATS) but in this spot the home team is clearly the play.
