Added on Apr 29, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
Sportsbooks offering a pair of NBA betting opportunities for Thursday, and we’ll take a look at a Western Conference series game between the Portland Trailblazers and Phoenix Suns. Following a Blazers’ road upset in game 1 the Suns have won 3 of 4 to put Portland on the brink of elimination with a 3-2 series lead.

The Blazers are a much stronger team at the Rose Garden, but we’re looking for Phoenix to close out the series. Portland looked absolutely lost in Game 5, losing by 19 in a game that wasn’t even as close as that lopsided score would indicate. Brandon Roy is playing hurt just a week or so removed from arthroscopic knee surgery, and Nicolas Batum and Marcus Camby are less than 100%. Phoenix has been a tough matchup for the Blazers in recent years, and the Suns hold a 9-6 SU edge in the last 15 meetings. Portland has been competitive against the spread (7-7 ATS) but at this price all we need for Phoenix to do is get the outright win. The Suns are a team that its difficult to have a lot of confidence in–they often play ‘down’ to the level of their opposition but when they’re in good form they’re almost unbeatable. Portland caught them napping in game 1 and fed off the emotion of Brandon Roy’s early return in game 4, but the Suns have otherwise had their way with the Blazers in this series–their 3 wins have come by an average of 22 PPG. Credit to Portland for fighting all season long despite a spate of injuries that would have had most teams throwing in the towel on the season, but we’re thinking the road ends here.
