Busy night of sports betting action on Wednesday including a full slate of action in the NHL.  We’ll take a look at a non-conference game between the Washington Capitals and Anaheim Ducks.  Caps are trying to stay in the playoff picture in the East while Anaheim currently has the #4 spot in the West but that’s far from secure in that insanely competitive conference.

It’s hard to believe that less than a year ago this Washington Capitals team was the highest scoring team in the league and routinely getting totals of 6.5 and even a few 7′s on their games.  This season they’re the #20 scoring offense in the NHL averaging just 2.65 goals per contest.  Despite their low scoring ways, the public has been slow to readjust their perception of the Caps which has resulted in totals that are still too high for the team’s current form and a whole bunch of Under verdicts this season.  Playing the Capitals Under in pretty much every situation has been a veritable ATM machine for those of us who bet on hockey.  The statistical breakdown will demonstrate just how solidly ‘Under’ the Capitals have been this year–Washington has only played 14 Overs in 57 games this year (41 Under, 2 push).  Washington has only gone Over once in 11 non conference games and only 6 times in 28 games against opponents with winning records (21 UN, 1 push).  In their last 14 games 12 have gone Under the total meaning they’ve played more games Under recently than even their absurdly one-sided 71% Under percentage for the season would suggest.  Until they start changing their form, we’ll keep playing Washington Under the total.

NOTE:  The game is currently off the board due to a shoulder injury suffered by Ducks’ goalie Jonas Hiller in practice on Tuesday.  With or without Hiller, we still like the Under.

Bet Washington Capitals/Anaheim Ducks Under 5′ -120
