This off-season, outside of Brett Favre, Albert Haynesworth dominated the headlines. After not showing up to mini-camps and having “beef” with his defensive coordinator before he even played with him, he finally camp to camp.

Then the whole conditioning situation, then the rumored trade to a few teams. Finally, he played in the pre-season games and, at least to the media, was re-established in the locker room in Washington.

But, now he’s back in the headlines.Just days until the start of the regular season, the Washington Redskins have approached the Titans about a possible trade. Nothing is still imminent, but the idea that the Redskins aren’t satisfied with Haynesworth on the roster entirely is still a cause for concern.

Odds are, he won’t be dealt to the Titans or any team during the season. The Titans don’t want to give up to much, likely not more than a fourth rounder, and they don’t want to take on his huge contract.

Also, the Redskins can’t afford to give up Haynesworth for relatively nothing. He’s still a solid nose tackle in this league, and I think he and the coaching staff feels that he can strongly contribute by mid-season and hopefully beyond.

But the sour taste in everyone’s mouth from this year is likely too much for this Haynesworth-Redskins relationship to work out in the end. It likely means that the Redskins will move Haynesworth after the season similar to how the Broncos shipped Brandon Marshall after the season.
