Quarterback

Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback position has been somewhat of a turnstile ever since Jeff Garcia left town, but over the last two seasons they have seen some light at the end of the tunnel with quarterbacks Troy and Alex Smith stepping up.

Fortunately, despite being injured over the last few weeks, Alex Smith has come back under center and played extremely well as he is coming off a three touchdown pass performance against the division rival Seattle Seahawks.

With Smith coming into his own against the Seahawks, the quarterback has become worthy of picking up if you need a viable backup QB.

Running Back

Tim Hightower, Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are on the outside looking in on the playoffs this season, but they still have some potent offensive players like running back Tim Hightower.

With the passing game a non factor in Arizona, the Cardinals will look to the ground game and Hightower to put points on the board, especially in the redzone.

Wide Receiver

Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a team on the rise in the NFL and have one of the most promising quarterbacks in the league right now with Josh Freeman under center.

Even though Freeman has played brilliantly this season, he wouldn’t be having the kind of season he has had without wide receiver Mike Williams who has become a legitimate threat in terms of putting up huge fantasy football numbers.

Tight End

Antonio Fasano, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are probably out of playoff contention right now as they most likely won’t be able to make it into the postseason, but they have started to come on strong offensively as of late which bumps the value of tight end Antonio Fasano has gone up considerably. So if you are looking for a tight end, Fasano is a solid option.

Defense

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders may be coming off a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars (38-31), but their defense has really stepped i up this season and could have a big day this weekend against the lowly Denver Broncos on their home field in Oakland.
