The bumbling Minnesota Vikings will try to string together back to back wins as they host the scrappy Buffalo Bills in Sunday NFL action.  Minnesota beat the Washington Redskins last week for only their second SU win in their past six games and to break a 5 game losing streak against the pointspread.  Buffalo is coming off a loss, but showed a ton of competitive fire in taking Pittsburgh to overtime.

The Vikings have shown marginal improvement since head coach Brad Childress was shown the door, but at 4-7 are realistically out of the playoff hunt making the 2010 season little more than Brett Favre’s retirement ‘ego-palooza’.  Favre really didn’t contribute much to the win over the Redskins in Leslie Frazier’s head coaching debut passing for just 172 yards with no touchdowns.  More important is what he *didn’t* do–he didn’t turn the ball over as he had done 22 times this season (17 INTs, 5 lost fumbles).  Favre didn’t practice on Wednesday but you know the drill with that–he’ll be under center on Sunday regardless of whether or not its in the best interest of the team.  Running back Adrian Peterson has also been hobbled by injury and is either ‘probable’ or a ‘game time decision’ depending on which source of information you trust.

Minnesota has been a decent home team in the past couple of years–since the start of the 2009 season they’re 12-2 SU/8-5-1 ATS on their home field.  That notwithstanding, we’d much rather take the points with a gritty Buffalo team that has shown a lot of tenacity since Ryan Fitzpatrick took over at quarterback.  Bills are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games and have been money in the bank on the road, going 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games.  When you back Buffalo you know that you’ll get a solid effort for the full 60 minutes and that’s just not the case with this dysfunctional Vikings team.  Bills keep this one close and may steal the outright win.
