Sportsbooks Post NFL Win Totals

The end of the NFL lockout was a relief not only to football fans, players, coaches and teams but to bookmakers from Nevada to Costa Rica. NFL football is their big money sport and the sportsbooks worldwide were starting to sweat as the lockout dragged on and threaten to cancel the preseason and at the very least delay the start of the regular season.
The good news, however, is that all of the labor mess isbehind us and NFL teams and players are getting ready for football. So too are bookmakers in Nevada–they’re gearing up for preseason and regular season NFL betting and to whet the appetite of the betting public they’ve started serving up odds on a variety of propositions including O/U win totals. So far several of the major sportsbook chains have posted odds including the books at the Wynn, the MGM Resorts Properties and the Cantor Gaming run sportsbooks at the M Resort, Hard Rock Casino, Tropicana Las Vegas and the Cosmopolitan.
The numbers from Cantor Gaming are among the most respected in the state and are the most recent Las VegasCantor bookmakers have the highest hopes for the Packers and Patriots, both of whom have an O/U total of 11 wins. Both Green Bay and New England are -130 to win more than 11 games, +110 to win less than 11. At the other end of the spectrum is the Carolina Panthers with an Over/Under total of 4.5 wins. Carolina opened at -105 to win five or more games, -115 to win four or fewer games.
Cantor Gaming is the gaming services affiliate of worldwide financial giant Cantor Fitzgerald. They’ve made a significant impact on the Nevada sportsbook scene in their first few years in the market. The currently operate the sportsbooks at the M Resort, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Tropicana and will soon take over management of the sportsbooks at the Venetian and Palazzo.
Other major sportsbooks offshore and in Nevada are taking a more cautious approach to their NFL O/U win totals and are waiting until the major free agent moves are complete before hanging a number. By this time next week most sportsboooks worldwide will have this proposition available for betting.
